My Startup Journey

Since my 1st year of college, I’ve contributed to building three startups at NIT Rourkela, including Quickserve, Stethaim, and Blue Current.

DESIGNING UNDER CONSTRAINTS

How We Built NIT Rourkela’s Campus Food Delivery System

We initially planned a dedicated food delivery app, but with a small team and no funding, it wasn’t feasible.
So we validated the idea by running the service on WhatsApp and used it to fund the app we planned to build later.

About Me

I’m Nishkarsh, a student from the Industrial Design department at NIT Rourkela, and I’m more into UX design and psychology. My college life revolves around building startups, participating in hackathons, doing internships, and traveling. Most of my friends are (+1) seniors, and I usually hang out with the coolest builder group on campus.

Let's Talk

Let me answer "that" for you

Quick answers to help you understand my background and design process better.

Nishkarsh Nishkarsh Pointing

I realized early that I enjoy designing systems and interactions more than objects. Digital products allowed me to iterate faster, validate ideas with users, and see direct impact. My Industrial Design training still influences how I think about usability, constraints, and human behavior.

I follow a simple loop:
Understand the problem → clarify the user and business goal → map flows → validate assumptions early → design → iterate based on feedback or data.

I avoid jumping into screens without understanding what success looks like.

I actively design with business outcomes in mind. I am not a Figma pixel pusher.

I co-founded and operated QuickServe, a food delivery startup at NIT Rourkela. We did not start with an app. We validated the entire MVP using a WhatsApp-only model, handled operations manually, tested demand, pricing, and flows, and then scaled based on real usage. Design decisions directly impacted adoption and helped generate ₹1–2L in monthly revenue.

Later, QuickServe secured funding at a ₹40 lakh valuation, which reinforced my belief that good design is tightly connected to validation, feasibility, and growth.

I have shipped in real environments. I have contributed to open-source design through Summer of Bitcoin, completed 4 internships, co-founded a startup, and won multiple hackathons while working closely with developers.

These experiences taught me to design fast, collaborate deeply, and think beyond Figma. I also use AI tools to accelerate my workflow and focus more on decision making.

I am learning how to independently validate MVPs end to end, from framing the problem to testing it in the market.

I use vibe coding and AI agents to prototype and test ideas quickly, reducing the barrier to building, and focus on validating assumptions, user demand, and feasibility before investing in full-scale builds.

Yay, people are saying nice things!
